Tijuana also offers great advantage for international freight service with over 200 trucking companies providing services out of San Diego and Tijuana combined.
With more than 1.4 million trucks crossing per year, the land port of entry at Otay Mesa is the largest commercial crossing on the border between California and Baja California. This border crossing manages the second largest share of freight and the third volume of trade in terms of dollar value of all areas with land crossings between the U.S. and Mexico.
Airport Services:
The International Airport of Tijuana has 5 airline companies operating 130 flights daily, making this facility the fourth largest airport in Mexico. Approximately, 3.9 million passengers use the airport’s facilities annually.
There are domestic and international air freight shipping services, forwarders, agents, and companies providing air cargo services to US, Canada, UK, Central, Northern and Eastern Europe, Central and South America, Asia and Pacific.
San Diego´s Lindbergh field is located just 30 minutes away, serving as a hub for 20 major passengers airlines and 550 daily flights connecting to all points in the continental U.S. as well as international destinations. Six cargo service airlines with 17 flights a day are available at the Lindbergh Field.
San Diego´s Brown Field located in Otay-Mesa is mostly used for cargo and private planes, the general aviation facility is only 4 minutes away from the Otay-Mesa Port of Entry to the U.S.
Railroads:
Tijuana Offers daily rail service to and from the Port of San Diego and Los Angeles via the SD&IV (San Diego and Imperial Valley Rail Systems). Additionally the Amtrak station located only 20 minutes away offers 20 daily passenger trips to and from Los Angeles.
The railroad station is connected by trolley to Tijuana and Mexicali two and a half hours distance from Tijuana by land has connecting rail routes via the Mexican National Rail System to every destination in Mexico.
Maritime Ports:
Connected to the city of Ensenada by a modern 4 lane highway Tijuana, is a short 72 miles away from the port city. An estimated of 2,113,354 (Dec 2010) Tons of cargo are handled per year and 361,285 passengers from cruisers and commercial ships are welcomed to Ensenada´s Port every year.
