Few cities in the world have grown as rapidly as Tijuana. In less than a century it has grown from a small backwater town in to a large metropolis, undergoing the largest demographic boom in Mexico.
This can be partially attributed to its proximity to the U.S. and to the industrial growth caused by foreign manufacturing investment, which has attracted migrant workers from the interior of the country seeking to improve their lives with better jobs.

The State population grows at a rate of 5.0% per year. The state of Baja California is ranked 4th in Mexico in terms of growth rate.The State has over three million in habitants. Tijuana´s growth rate makes the city the fastest growing in the state of Baja. Tijuana´s population represents almost half of the States total residents (49.4%), The city has an annual growth rate of 5.2%.
